Soccer Business Bits: Tickets in KC, Galaxy Friendly & More

The Kansas City Wizards have announced that more than 40,000 tickets for their July 25 match against Manchester United at New Arrowhead Stadium.  According to the Wizards’ press release, the match will set a new attendance record for soccer in Mid-America, as sales have already surpassed the previous record of 37,319 set when the United States Men’s National Team played a World Cup qualifier against Costa Rica at Arrowhead in 2001.  Ticket prices for the game range from $30-$125.000.

In Los Angeles, the Galaxy have announced Summer friendly with Spanish power Real Madrid. The August 7 match replaces the previously scheduled game against Inter Milan.  The game is presented by Pechanga Resort & Casino and is included with Galaxy season ticket packages.  The Galaxy are also pairing the game with their July 4 match and are offering tickets for $46 for those buying tickets for both games.  The July 4th match against Seattle includes a post-game fireworks show.

Finally, the July friendly between Tottenham and San Jose has been picked up by ESPN and will be broadcast live on July 17th.  The match will be held at cozy Buck Shaw stadium and less than 1,000 tickets remain available for the game. Tickets for the match range from $20-$50 and are included in season ticket holder packages.  Spursand the Earthquakes signed a club partnership agreement in 2008 with the objective of creating a long-term bond between the two clubs. The relationship focuses on both soccer and commercial development by exchanging and implementing the best practices from both organizations.
