The Monday After

Busy few days in Major League Soccer as teams have been aggressively signing players, preparing for the re-entry draft, unveiling jerseys and generally trying to remain relevant in the news cycle.  While I’ve never personally understood the excitement around the release of a new kit, the oft criticized Revolution front office handled their unveiling rather well, usual social media to spread the word.  The team also managed to concurrently announce the re-signing of longtime midfielder Shalrie Joseph and present him to model the new designs.  Whatever the soccer/budget merits of the signing, Joseph is the most recognizable Rev and having him on board for the unveiling was timely and well orchestrated.

I have done an inadequate job over the last few weeks covering the WPS and its ongoing struggle to survive.   For the first couple of years of this site, I religiously posted about WPS attendance, promotions, sponsorship news and other business topics, but over time, the interest in those post has waned and WPS related posts have fallen off. That said, there are some important events going on in the world of Womens’ soccer.  I will endeavor to provide more coverage of the WPS, but for now, I recommend Beau Dure’s site which provides a steady diet of information about the ongoing WPS saga.

One final note from the weekend.  MLSSoccer.com is offering free shipping for all orders over $75 as part of a holiday promotion.  The promotion runs through the end of 2011.
